Cyril vs Odoo
Odoo is an established suite of open-source business apps, with a free Community edition and paid plans that include every app. Cyril is a pre-launch AI operating system with a waitlist and no customers yet. This page compares the two, using Odoo’s own pages for every fact about Odoo.

What it is
OdooA suite of open-source business apps that Odoo describes as easy to use and fully integrated.
CyrilAn AI operating system for running a business. Mail, Drive, Docs and Calendar are the everyday core, and apps such as Sales, Projects and Support run on top of them.
Apps
OdooFirst-party apps across finance, sales, websites, supply chain, HR, marketing, services and productivity, plus more than 40,000 community apps, according to Odoo.
CyrilMail, Drive, Docs and Calendar, then Sales, Projects, Support, Finance, Marketing, Reporting, HR, Legal, Products, a client portal and tools you build yourself. The What’s ready page gives the status of each.
Editions
OdooOdoo Community is open source and free. Odoo Enterprise is licensed, and adds apps, infrastructure and professional services.
CyrilOne edition. Every plan is the whole platform; the plans differ in AI credit, support and contract terms.
Pricing
OdooPer user per month. One App Free gives one app to unlimited users; Standard and Custom include all apps, billed yearly or monthly.
CyrilPer seat per month, every app included: $29 for 1 to 10 seats, $59 for 11 to 50, $99 for 51 to 200, and Enterprise on custom terms. No platform fee, and client portal users are free.
Availability
OdooAvailable now. Odoo Online on every plan, and Odoo.sh or your own servers on Custom, with Odoo.sh hosting charged separately. Paid plans offer a free trial.
CyrilNot available yet. Early access opens in late January 2027 for founding members from the waitlist. There is no self-serve signup and no free trial.
AI
OdooOdoo Accounting advertises AI document digitisation, an integrated AI agent you can question in plain language, machine-learning bank reconciliation, and connecting external AI tools to your database.
CyrilOne AI layer underneath every app. Ask Cyril plans the work, shows you the plan and waits for your approval. Pooled AI credit comes with every plan; agentic mode follows after launch.
Your data
OdooOdoo says it uses no proprietary data format, just PostgreSQL, so you own your data.
CyrilOne schema, one permission model and one audit log under every app. Full export is free, at any time, on every plan.
Track record
OdooEstablished. Odoo reports 28 million users and a community of more than 100,000 developers.
CyrilPre-launch, with a waitlist and no customers yet.
Where Odoo is the stronger choice.
Any one of these can settle the question, and a comparison that skipped them would not be worth reading.
- Open source, with a free edition
- Odoo Community is open source and free, and the One App Free plan gives a single app to unlimited users. Cyril has no free plan and no free trial, so if starting at no cost matters, Odoo can do that today.
- Run it where you choose
- On its Custom plan, Odoo runs on Odoo Online, on Odoo.sh or on your own servers. If hosting on your own infrastructure is a requirement, Odoo offers it today, and Cyril’s published plans do not.
- A very large ecosystem
- More than 40,000 community apps and a community of over 100,000 developers, according to Odoo. Whatever niche you work in, someone has probably built for it, and a newer platform cannot match that breadth.
- It is available, and it is proven
- Odoo is on sale today and reports 28 million users. Cyril is pre-launch with no customers, so there is no track record for you to check yet, and nobody outside the team has run a business on it.
Where Cyril differs.
All four come from how Cyril is built, rather than from a list of features.
- AI underneath, from the start
- The AI layer sits under the whole platform, so Ask Cyril can plan work that spans Sales, Projects, Support and Finance, show you the plan and wait for your approval before it acts. Pooled AI credit comes with every plan.
- One set of records and one permission model
- Both products keep their apps on one set of records. Cyril adds one permission model that applies everywhere, including to the AI layer, and one audit log for every action, so access is defined once.
- Every app on every plan, per seat
- $29, $59 or $99 per seat per month depending on team size, with every app on every plan, pooled AI credit included, no platform fee, no per-app upsell, and free, unlimited client portal users.
- Free export, always
- Exporting your data is never billed, on any plan. Leaving should be possible, so the export is part of the product rather than a paid extra or a support request.
Who each one suits.
Odoo is the better fit if
you want open source or a free edition, need to run on your own servers, depend on a niche community app, or need a proven system running this quarter.
Cyril may be the better fit if
you can wait for early access, want one set of records and one permission model under every app with the AI built in underneath, and want per-seat pricing with every app included and free export.
What to know about Cyril first.
- Cyril is pre-launch. There are no customers yet, no self-serve signup and no free trial. Early access opens in late January 2027, starting with founding members from the waitlist.
- Agentic mode comes later. Today Ask Cyril plans, shows the plan and waits for your approval. Fully autonomous agentic mode arrives after launch, not before.
- Moving is real work. Imports today cover CSV files, Salesforce and Pipedrive, with rollback. There is no dedicated Odoo importer, so records come across as CSV.
- Specialist depth will be thinner. In any single function, a Cyril app will be thinner than a dedicated product built only for that job.
Common questions
Odoo has a free edition. Does Cyril?
No. Cyril has no free plan and no free trial. It is $29, $59 or $99 per seat per month by team size, in US dollars, with every app included. Odoo Community is open source and free, and Odoo’s One App Free plan covers one app for unlimited users.
Can we move from Odoo to Cyril?
Yes, as a planned migration rather than a switch. Cyril imports CSV files, Salesforce and Pipedrive today, with rollback, and has no dedicated Odoo importer. Records you export as CSV can come across; mapping them is real work, and it happens once, up front.
Does Cyril have customers yet?
No. Cyril is pre-launch, with a waitlist and no customers. Early access opens in late January 2027 for founding members. Any customer count, testimonial or rating attributed to Cyril is not ours.
